Netflix reveals first look at Yennefer in The Witcher Season 2

Production has been ramping up on the second season of Henry Cavill’s fantasy drama, The Witcher, and, following a series of leaks, Netflix has chosen to grace us with official screenshots of the show’s three main characters. It began with Cavill, who was wearing a beautiful new suit of armor. Next up was Freya Allan, donning Ciri’s Kaer Morhen training uniform. And now, Netflix has unveiled the season two look of the final member of The Witcher‘s central trio: Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer of Vengerberg.

Though the character’s fate was left a mystery at the end of season one, it seems that Yennefer has managed to survive the Battle of Sodden. That being said, we do expect there to be some serious ramifications for Yennefer’s magical showcase – that much chaos is sure to take its toll. Yennefer appears quite shaken up in these new images, where she’s still wearing her rope dress from the season one finale (indicating the scene takes place directly after the battle). In the second picture, Yennefer appears to be wearing Dimeritium shackles, which prevent her from using magic. Has she been captured by the Nilfgaardians?

If you’re interested to learn more about Yennefer’s story in season two, make sure to read our spoiler report from February, where Anya Chalotra was spotted on location with other cast members. You’ll certainly get more context on what happened to her after she disappeared from Sodden.

Besides these images, Netflix have revealed the official synopsis of season 2. “Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.

Though an official release date has not been confirmed, Redanian Intelligence expects to see the second season launch on Netflix in Summer 2021. In the meantime, follow our Twitter account for the latest news on The Witcher season two and its spinoffs.
