The Witcher Season 2 to introduce Nenneke and the Temple of Melitele

Many fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s books waited for the Temple of Melitele and the introduction of the relationship between Geralt and the priestess Nenneke in the first season of The Witcher. The producers decided not to adapt the short story The Voice of Reason, but the temple was briefly mentioned in the third episode. Some fans were even wondering whether we would see the Melitele storyline at all this season. We can now confirm and reassure everyone that yes, the Temple of Melitele will be present in The Witcher Season 2.

We have come to learn that actress and model Natasha Fletcher will play an unnamed priestess at the Temple of Melitele in The Witcher Season 2, most likely a background character.

But more importantly, after asking our sources about this, we were also able to confirm that high priestess Nenneke will also be appearing in the second season. The priestess, who is an important figure for Geralt, often healed him of severe wounds and cared for him like a mother. This time she will try to teach and look after Ciri.

At the moment, we do not know who plays Nenneke, but we are doing everything we can to get this information. One notable candidate for that role, however, is actress Julie Barclay (Broadchurch, Casualty) who we reported about several weeks ago. As we wrote that time, we do know she is in Season 2, but we don’t know her role. She certainly fits the profile of Nenneke, but we will see if she is indeed her.

Other than mother Nenneke, we have come to learn that Iola and Jarre will also be appearing in the second season of The Witcher. A young priestess that will studies at the temple, and a young boy, studying to be a scribe. Like Nenneke, we haven’t learned who is playing them yet, but we are trying to find out.

The Melitele storyline from Blood of Elves is a fan-favorite and rightfully so. After all this is where Ciri meets Yennefer for the first time and that’s when they start building their mother-daughter relationship. The relationship that was in full swing when we saw the two in photographs several months ago.

We are excited to see this particular storyline come to life in the Netflix adaptation when the second season airs later this year!
