The Witcher prequel ‘Blood Origin’ to start filming in Iceland

Filming for The Witcher prequel Blood Origin starring Laurence O’Fuarain, Sophia Brown and Michelle Yeoh is imminent and will start very soon. Cast and crew are already on their way to the first location: Iceland, making it the first country other than the UK since Spain in 2019 to be featured as a filming location for The Witcher.

In fact, O’Fuarain has already arrived to Iceland to begin production in the beginning of August after a short quarantine.

Iceland has been a potential filming location for a certain amount of time since showrunner Declan de Barra and both directors Sarah O’Gorman and Vicky Jewson travelled there to scout for locations this June.

Not so long ago, back in April, it was the Canary Islands that have been considered as a possible outdoors location with beautiful open vistas and rocky mountainsides,, but plans have changed and now we have Iceland instead.

With filming of The Witcher: Blood Origin very soon, we are hoping for some on-set pictures to surface as it has been with the main show. In any case, stay tuned!
