The Witcher arrives in Slovenia for Season 3 filming

Back in February we reported that Season 3 of The Witcher would be filming in three European countries: Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. Back then we didn’t know exactly when cameras would start rolling, but now the wait seems to be almost over! This is an especially interesting coincidence as Season 2 wrapped almost exactly one year ago.

We’ve been able to establish that cast and crew have already started gathering in North Slovenia. Some of the locals we spoke to claimed at least Henry Cavill and Freya Allan are already there.

UPDATE: And Henry Cavill confirmed his reunion with Hector, who plays Roach on his Instagram!

We’re eagerly awaiting to learn who else is there. They claim filming is to take place somewhere around Kranjska Gora as you can see the trucks below:

Our sources tell us that after Kranjska Gora, filming will move to Postojna. We don’t know for certain where in Postojna filming will be, but our friends at Fellowhip of Fans found that Predjama Castle near Postojna will be closed on April 5, which coincides very well with The Witcher. So that’s another possible filming location for The Witcher Season 3, although not yet confirmed.

As for Croatia, sources told us that filming is to take place on the Krk Island and somewhere around the town of Pula. Finally, there’s Italy but we haven’t got any approximate locations aside South Tyrol, which is a whole region. We’ll find out more as the filming gets closer there.

Henry Cavill Injury Doesn't Affect Production

By now you've likely heard that Henry Cavill has injured himself during a shoot for The WItcher. United Kingdom media giant The Sun , reported the news first on Cavill's injury. A source close to the show had this to say regarding the injury, "He just suddenly pulled up and was clearly in a lot of pain. It wasn’t clear if an object had hit his leg or it was some sort of hamstring or muscle injury." This took place while Henry was suspended 20 feet in the air for a major scene. While the title of The Sun's article alludes to the production schedule going into chaos, Deadline.com has now also shared the news but notes that any impact to production is not heavily felt due to the coming holiday shut down. The Witcher Season 3 to enter production in early 2022

Everyone is eagerly waiting for The Witcher Season 2 on December 17, but the work on the next season doesn’t stay still and the scripts are being written as we speak. If you recall, Season 3 of The Witcher will have a number of new writers who started their work this July. We were wondering when filming for the next season would begin and now we have a window. Thanks to the newest listing on Production Weekly, we now know that Season 3 of The Witcher is planned to enter production in the first quarter of 2022 . But bear in mind that production schedules are never solid and are always subject to change, especially in a post-covid world.
