The Witcher to feature a fan-favorite event in Season 3

The third season of Netflix’s The Witcher Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan is gearing up for filming very soon and while it will be a long time until we see any new footage, we can always enjoy the little pieces of information that we sometimes get in the meantime. The first more or less significant story event that we have learned to be featured in Season 3 is one we thought to have lost after its omission from Season 1.

The event in question is Beltane or alternatively spelled Belleteyn, an analog of the real-life Pagan fertility festival which is celebrated to this day on May 1. We’ve learned that Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri will attend the festival very early in Season 3.

We don’t know any more details just yet, but we can presume a good chunk of screentime of that episode dedicated to the main trio simply bonding and spending some quality time as a family. As it happens, Beltane is also the birthday of both Ciri and Yennefer, so we’re wondering if that also factors in because logically it has to.

As you remember, in the books things happen differently and at a different time. During his delirious cart ride in Something More, Geralt remembers the very last time he met Yennefer before the Battle of Sodden happened. They met at Belleteyn, each with their own company, but inevitably reunited for one “last time” in a typical Geralt and Yennefer fashion. Naturally, it wasn’t the last time..

During their pillow talk, they also remember Villentretenmerth and what he said to them that day, that destiny isn’t enough and that “something more” was needed. A similar conversation was already included in the finale of Season 2, so in the show Geralt and Yennefer already have that understanding between them.

Henry Cavill Injury Doesn't Affect Production

By now you've likely heard that Henry Cavill has injured himself during a shoot for The WItcher. United Kingdom media giant The Sun , reported the news first on Cavill's injury. A source close to the show had this to say regarding the injury, "He just suddenly pulled up and was clearly in a lot of pain. It wasn’t clear if an object had hit his leg or it was some sort of hamstring or muscle injury." This took place while Henry was suspended 20 feet in the air for a major scene. While the title of The Sun's article alludes to the production schedule going into chaos, Deadline.com has now also shared the news but notes that any impact to production is not heavily felt due to the coming holiday shut down. The Witcher Season 3 to enter production in early 2022

Everyone is eagerly waiting for The Witcher Season 2 on December 17, but the work on the next season doesn’t stay still and the scripts are being written as we speak. If you recall, Season 3 of The Witcher will have a number of new writers who started their work this July. We were wondering when filming for the next season would begin and now we have a window. Thanks to the newest listing on Production Weekly, we now know that Season 3 of The Witcher is planned to enter production in the first quarter of 2022 .
