The Witcher: Blood Origin undergoes additional filming
The first live-action prequel to The Witcher subtitled Blood Origin wrapped filming in November 2021 and things have been silent on that front ever since. There is still no concrete release date for, with the exception of Netflix confirming that the six-part limited series starring Michelle Yeoh, Laurence O’Fuarain and Sophia Brown is to be released in 2022.
Some time ago we heard that The Witcher: Blood Origin would have have some additional shoots this April and that they will only last about 7 to 10 days starting from April 12, both in studio and on location. We don’t know yet which actors will be involved, but Laurence O’Fuarain (Fjall), Amy Murray (Fenrik) and Francesca Mills (Meldof) have been to London in the past week before the Easter break, so that was likely for studio work. Just the other day O’Fuarain shared a picture that looked like inside of a trailer.

Now, showrunner Declan de Barra confirmed our suspicions via his Instagram revealing night shoots at a location. Knowing that de Barra is not involved in The Witcher Season 3, this can only mean Blood Origin.
As to which location that is, we know that The Witcher currently had two sets in the Epping Forest near London. One is at Strawberry Hill Pond with a fancy camp that looks very much like Belleteyn for Season 3, and the other is at Jacks Hill, from which we haven’t seen anything. We’re thinking Jacks Hill is for Blood Origin.

Here’s the teaser trailer for Blood Origin to refresh the memory:
With only about a week required, this likely means nothing too big and no major reshoots like they had with pilot episode of The Witcher. Still, additional shoots that happen long after the initial wrap are a rare occurrence in TV, despite being very common for feature film productions.
Season 3 of the main Witcher series is in production until September 2022 with a likely 2023 release. Stay tuned for more Witcher news!
