The Witcher actors that appeared both in Netflix series and in the games
The Witcher is a big franchise at this point with its books as well as the games, Netflix series and its multiple spinoffs. The franchise keeps growing and there will inevitably be some overlap between the cast members of CD Projekt RED’s games and the Netflix series. Here are the actors who have appeared in both so far:
MyAnna Buring as Tissaia de Vries and Anna Henrietta
This is, of course, the biggest and most famous of the cases. Back in 2016, Buring voiced Anna Henrietta, the beloved Duchess of Toussaint in Blood and Wine, the second expansion of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Later, in 2018 she was cast in the first season Netflix’s The Witcher as Aretuza’s rectoress Tissaia de Vries and the closest thing to a mother that Yennefer ever had.
Fun fact: Tissaia does namedrop Toussaint in Season 1, which is a nice little thing, albeit without the accent.
Antony Byrne as General Hake and King Foltest
Back in 2011, Byrne voiced King Foltest in The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Foltest was quite an important character there and Byrne gave a very memorable performance.
Then as we saw in The Witcher Season 2, Byrne appeared as the Nilfgaardian general Hake, whose role was to be a political opponent to Fringilla Vigo and an obstacle for her to overcome.
Lu Corfield as Marites and Iris von Everec
Iris von Everec is another very beloved character for most Witcher players, whom we meet at her haunted manor in the expansion Hearts of Stone. She was masterfully voiced by Lu Corfield.
In Season 1 of The Witcher, Corfield also appeared as an ordinary widow Marites, in a scene with Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer during the preparations for the Battle of Sodden.
Alastair Parker as dock guard and Cleaver
This time we have someone from The Witcher 3‘s base game: Alastair Parker, who voiced one of Novigrad’s crime bosses Cleaver. He can be an ally for Geralt during the Novigrad section and can give one of the toughest racing quests, if you don’t have good equipment on Roach.
In Season 2 of The Witcher, Parker played the dock guard who “represented” some of the first season’s critics, who were confused by the multiple timelines or considered the Aard kiss to be cheap.
This is it so far, but we have more seasons to come, more spinoffs, more animes as well as hopefully another game, so we shall see how this lists expands in the future.
Season 3 of The Witcher is in production until September 2022 for a 2023 release. The live-action prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin is in post-production after two weeks of reshoots and is currently eyed for a Christmas 2022 release.
