New Witcher Season 4 Scene Reveals a Book Storyline Set In the Far Future
The fourth season of Netflix’s The Witcher has already started pre-production with filming planned to start in March. Recently, it was announced that Laurence Fishburne was joining the new season as the beloved vampire Regis, but that’s not all the casting news we have now.
The Witcher Season 4 will feature Nimue
Thanks to an audition tape by actor Tim Plester (Game of Thrones, After Life, Shadow and Bone) we have a new scene in The Witcher Season 4 featuring a young girl and a wandering storyteller.
The girl is obsessed with a certain “knight” and a “Lady Viola”, but most importantly the girl calls the man Stribog while another kid called her Squirt, which was also what Nimue got called when she was a child.
In Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, Stribog was an old wandering storyteller who would come to a town and entertain the children with tales in exchange for food. One of his “fans” was young Nimue, who was most interested about his century-old tales about a certain witcher and a sorceress.
Like in the audition, Nimue also wanted to become like Yennefer, which inspired her to go study at Aretuza later. These tales as well as a fateful encounter from her student years also drove her to hire the oneiromancer Condwiramurs Tilly and find out the real truth behind these old legends.
This confirms that the opening of The Witcher Season 4 will feature Nimue and this framing story will serve as a way to explain the recasting of Geralt of Rivia, from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth.
Last year with executive producer Tomek Baginski’s words it was already abundantly clear, but now we have a confirmation. One of the quotes was: “There is only one reality in Sapkowski’s work, but because it is a story from the past, what we know has been filtered by various authors, historians, writers, etc. Maybe it is Jaskier’s version or someone else’s. Maybe Ciri had a different eye color, was a different character, and these events looked different from the point of view of the elves.”

While there’s no confirmation for the following, it could be a possibility that Stribog and Seanchai from Blood Origin are the same entity. After all, Seanchai was described as a “time-travelling, shape-shifting storyteller.” Perhaps Minnie Driver was just one of this character’s many forms.
Transcription of the Stribog audition
As usual, we have made a transcription of the dialogue between Stribog and Nimue:
Stribog: “You need to go home, child. Your parents will have my hide.”
Nimue: “But you won’t come back for months!”
Stribog: “Legend like this are ancient history, longer than you’ve been alive. Longer than your parents, your grandparents. Time won’t change that, I promise.”
Child 2: “I know what happened next. There were six smaller beasts and like a warrior the knight slayed them all, his face covered in their..”
Stribog: “No, no, no, no, no, this is a different story entirely!”
Nimue: “Then tell us about Lady Viola! I’m gonna be just like her one day.”
Child 2: “Shut it, Squirt! All anyone cares about are the fights!”
Stribog: “Not true. There’s much more to it than that. If only I had something to mop up this broth.”
Nimue: “While they’re gone, the lady and the knight. They were in love?”
Stribog: “Erm…well…pfft…something like that. They…uh…they went down different paths.”
Nimue: “And then the North attacked and the rebels!”
Stribog: “Do you not have books in this town?”
Nimue: “We couldn’t read them even if we did.”
Stribog: “The South and the rebels attacked the North.”
Nimue: “So the knight fought the rebels? If you’d read the books, you’d know knights don’t fight rebels, they fight big bad beasts.”
Stribog: “Are you telling the story or am I? Right, listen closely. That day the knight fought the most sinister beast that’s ever lived, there was no match to evil that powerful… but that’s all for today. Go home.”
Nimue: “Was the knight able to save his Lady Viola? Did they have the family she dreamed of? Did they all live happily ever after? Oh, don’t go yet Stribog please! Is that the end of the story?”
Stribog: “Oh no no no, that, that’s just the beginning!“
