BREAKING: Netflix halts production of The Witcher again

Back in March filming of the second season of Netflix’s The Witcher was halted due to the global pandemic and later it was revealed that Kristofer Hivju (Nivellen) had been tested positive. Filming resumed several months later in August and continued through a very big “tour” of location shoots across England.

Now, however, filming has been halted again as four people within the production crew have been tested positive for COVID-19, Deadline has confirmed. Filming is set to resume whenever they are confident that the studio is safe again. No exact dates are known yet.

Additionally, Deadline reports that the four people in question are not among the cast and have been isolated.

Game of Thrones star Kristofer Hivju was tested positive with COVID-19 and has successfully recovered shortly after.

This is not very surprising as we are in the middle of a new big wave of the virus and it was only a matter of time before this happened in The Witcher. Nonetheless, production of Matt Reeves’ The Batman was halted not very long ago and after two weeks it resumed.

If The Batman can be a reference point in this case, we can expect a similar time frame for The Witcher, but we will have to wait and see to know for certain.

As we go into a second hiatus, check out the latest news from The Witcher filming on our main page including an exciting scene with Geralt and Yennefer.
